Tempest

Details

Built in the mid-1970s by Porters Boat Builders in Adelaide, Tempest carries a rich South Australian fishing history, working the crayfish grounds out of Beachport before moving east to Victoria, fishing from Flinders to Wilson’s Promontory in the crayfish and wrasse fisheries.

Currently based in San Remo, Tempest is a proven 32’ NZ kauri-built vessel, in 3C survey. She has a reputation as a strong, seaworthy and fuel-efficient working boat. She would suit continued commercial use, Bass Strait cruising, or an easy-to-handle bay boat.

Powered by a reliable 120hp Perkins, rebuilt five seasons ago (with recent 5000hr injector service), coupled to a Twin Disc gearbox. Over the past two years significant upgrades have been completed including: full rewire, new shaft, stainless steel handrails, new roof, re-glassed deck and well, new engine water pump, new heat exchanger tube stack, and two new batteries.

Equipment includes:
- Plotter, sounder, pilot
- 2 x 250L stainless steel fuel tanks
- Stainless steel rudder
- Hydraulic hauler
- Mast available (not currently stepped)

Annual out-of-water maintenance was completed on 25 August 2025, including antifoul, topside paint, and anodes. She is in excellent order and ready for summer.
