Pearl
Details
Built with Kauri at some stage in the 1920s by Peter Locke in Queenscliff Pearl is a traditional 26’ Couta Boat. She fished for approximately 60 years for barracouta and crayfish off Victoria’s southern coastline, mostly out of Portland. In the mid-80s Tim Phillips re-ribbed her and she was purchased by James Mighell and Dennis Horne. After a thorough restoration Pearl sailed consistently out of Sorrento and Portsea, notably winning the Portsea Cup in 2001. Her current owners, based in Sydney, have raced her competitively on both Sydney Harbour and Pittwater.
In November 2023 Pearl underwent a major overhaul and had her Vetus engine rebuilt. Pearl is a stunning example of an original Queenscliff Couta Boat and would be an ideal vessel for anyone interested in racing or pleasure cruising. She has a beam of 10’ and a draft of 3’.
