Lucy

Details

Lucy C31 is a 22 ft classic Couta Boat built by the masterbuilder Ken Lacco in 1931 for fishing in Port Phillip Victoria. She has a rich provenance and is listed in the ‘Australian Register of Historic Vessels’ on the ANMM website.

Restored and converted to a recreational sailing vessel by Tim Phillips in the early 1980s, Lucy has the distinction of having sailed continuously for over 40 years in the various fleets that evolved into the Couta Boat fleet at Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club (SSCBC). She is campaigned competitively in the SSCBC Division 2 fleet and other regattas on Port Phillip, and has a long list of podium honours.

Lucy is in prime condition, due to the assiduous maintenance by the current syndicate. Her planking is NZ Kauri and the deck is Celery Top Pine, her distinctive heritage features with her port-wine hull are striking in appearance. She comes with a full set of sails purchased in 2024, with reefing lines in the mainsail; a No 2 jib; storm jib, and full boat cover. She comes with a reliable Yanmar diesel engine. On request, her swing mooring SET 217 is also available for purchase.

Given her pedigree, Lucy desires a wooden boat enthusiast who will utilise her for competitive sailing or showcase her heritage features in recreational sailing, fishing or cruising. And importantly, to mark the occasion of her Centenary in 2031.
