Harriet

Details

Built by the Higgs Brothers in Geelong in 1938, Harriet (formerly Birgitta E) is a classic 21’5” Couta Boat believed to have fished out of Lorne in her early years.

In 2001, she was rescued in a dilapidated condition from a mooring at Apollo Bay by Malcom Bamford. A major restoration followed, led by local Sorrento tradesman Len Dodson. Since then, Harriet has had a rich and active life on the water, including a win in the 2019 Portsea Cup on handicap as part of the vibrant Division Two fleet at SSCBC.

In 2014, she joined a larger syndicate of young SSCBC members and continued to be sailed regularly. She is currently set up with all necessary sailing equipment, including Hooper sails and rigging upgraded with new sheets prior to the last season. She is powered by a Nanni 3.75 HE engine, last serviced in 2023.

However, Harriet now presents as a restoration project, requiring work to her damaged ribs. While she remains a complete and functional sailing vessel, she will need someone with the skills and passion to return her to full strength.

This is a rare opportunity to acquire a historic vessel with proven pedigree, strong bones, and a bright future in the right hands.

A mooring favourably positioned off SSCBC is also available for purchase at a competitive price.
