Gannet was built at the Wooden Boat Shop for the current owner, Marcus Burke, and launched
in Port Phillip Bay in Janurary 2005. She has spent all her life at Blairgowrie Marina and / or off Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club. Used frequently for day trips and the odd overnight stay at Queenscliff Marina, she is also set up for extended voyaging and exploring of Wilsons Prom. and the Bass Strait islands.
Gannet is NOT a Nepean Launch but a specifically designed adaption of our Nepean Launch type but designed as a motor sailer, similar to Jane. She has both a gaff rig and bermudian sail plan option, both of which the current owner decided against implementing.
It is our opinion here at WBS that she will sail beautifully. Being a lot smaller in the stern sections than a standard Nepean Launch, she should balance up nicely under sail.
The currento ownder says' "Fitted with many extras the Gannet has been a pleasure to cruise the Bay. Fishing, snorkelling and general pleasure/naturalist trips are a real joy in the Gannet and there is plenty of space for extended family to enjoy a day out. As the single owner of the Gannet it is difficult to let her go,
however, due to personal circumstances it is time to find her a new owner that will care for her as diligently as I have."
She is currently moored at Blairgowrie Marina, her berth is also up for sale, and therefore, the
boat with berth may be considered as a complete package if desired.
