Why Knot

Details

Why Knot is an exceptional example of a Laurent Giles designed Solar Class boat. She was originally built in 1972 for a Perth industrialist and was let go until discovered in Shark Bay in 2013. Why Knot was subsequently rebuilt with no expense spared, and exists now as a solid, safe, and spacious seafaring yacht. Why Knot was re-launched in 2019 and the current owners sailed her to The Wooden Boat Festival in Hobart, and back again to Port Phillip Bay. This boat is a particularly stunning example of the Solar Class and is a boat that exemplifies both comfort and style.

Why Knot has a near-new Yanmar 130hp turbo diesel engine, radar 8kva Panda Diesel Generator, two electric toilets, water maker, Vetus bow thruster, new sails and rigging. She also has restored bright work, cabin windows and teak trim, and her King Billy Pine hull taken back to the timber and two-pack finished.  She has a completely re-furnished interior with mahogany panelling.
