The Wooden Boat Shop held an open day on Good Friday 30th March on the hardstand at Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron. The day was a success with about 400 people attending.
We had a delicious mussel cook up with Harry’s mussels from flinders whilst visitors were entertained with music from Kevin Viss. Wooden Boat Shop Director, Tim Phillips, says “it was a day for the wooden boat fraternity of the southern peninsula”.
On the hardstand, we had the Kooyong and Squally Cove (currently under construction) on display for visitors to look at. Most visitors were very impressed by the workmanship on these boats.
Visitors were able to look at boats such as the Jane, shearwater, and Jane Kerr which were moored at the marina for the day. There was also a Premier Yachting display and a Mornington BMW display. The day brought a lot of people out to the marina for the first time and Bruce and Anne Bell from Marina Berth Sales were kept very busy answering questions and showing people what berths were available for sale. Bruce commented that the number of people in attendance and the overall atmosphere certainly demonstrated that an event such as this could become a regular event at BYS.
