Built in 1916 by legendary boatbuilder and fisherman Mitch Lacco, Surprise in an absolute thoroughbred of a Couta Boat. Perfectly balanced and fine, Surprise was unbeatable in her day. She was one of the last boats built at the Lacco operation in Rosebud and represented a real turning point in Couta Boat design and development.
Surprise has an illustrious and multifaceted history, spanning over 100 years, and is well documented on the Couta Boat registry here. At 26’ Surprise will be a great purchase for anyone interested in owning an iconic Couta Boat and sailing her as a pleasure or racing craft. She is in need of some cosmetic maintenance, namely re-painting and antifouling. Her structural condition is excellent. A mooring off Blairgowrie is also available.
